CAFÉ CASA MARTÍNEZ — Castillo Organic Washed

Finca El Tulipán · Pinchote, Santander, Colombia · 1,615m · Familia Martínez

In 2003, five siblings purchased a farm in Pinchote, Santander, with one simple intention: a place to gather, slow down, and be together. They called it Finca El Tulipán. What began as a family retreat became something none of them had planned — a coffee farm that would spend the next twenty years earning some of the most rigorous certifications in the industry, and building a reputation for quality that now reaches international markets.

Casa Martínez is not industrial coffee. It never has been.

The farm covers 3.5 hectares — a small lot by any standard — and every decision made there reflects that smallness with pride. No synthetic fertilizers. No pesticides. No herbicides. Not as a marketing choice, but as a commitment the family made from the beginning and has never broken. The result is a coffee that has never, in over two decades, been touched by a chemical. Only natural minerals, careful hands, and patience.

That commitment has a measurable cost: while a conventional coffee hectare produces 15 to 18 loads per year, El Tulipán produces 6 to 7. The Martínez family produces less than half of what they could. On purpose. Because they believe the right way is the only way worth doing.

65% of the farm's production reaches malla 17 — the large grain size associated with the highest-quality lots in Colombian specialty coffee. The drying is done on the farm itself, under solar conditions, with full control over every stage of post-harvest. There are no anonymous intermediaries. The coffee that leaves El Tulipán is completely traceable, from the tree to the bag.

The farm is also home to native forests that shade the coffee plants and attract a rich diversity of birds and wildlife — a living ecosystem that Rainforest Alliance has certified as genuinely sustainable. A rainwater collection system supports the farm's self-sufficiency. The shade of those native forests gives the cup its distinctive herbal notes and light citrus sensations that no formula can replicate.

In the cup: Honeyed fragrance · Medium acidity · Caramel · Chocolate · Herbal undertones · Light citrus · Clean, balanced finish

Best brewed with: Pour-over · French Press · Drip — this coffee performs beautifully across all methods

    FAQ

What makes COFY different from other “specialty” coffees?

COFY is built around true origin control—from cultivation and selection to final roast and cup profile. Every coffee is SCA 80+, traceable to Colombia, and curated for a clean, premium pour-over experience. You’re not buying a bag—you’re buying a consistent ritual with the people behind the harvest.

Whole bean or ground, what’s best for me?

For peak aroma and clarity, we recommend whole bean (the premium choice).

If you prefer ground, choose the grind that matches your ritual:

    • Fine: espresso-style machines
    • Medium: drip / automatic brewer
    • Coarse: French press / cold brew

Not sure? Choose whole bean—it preserves freshness and gives you the most expressive cup.

How does the subscription work? Can I skip or change anytime?

Yes. Our subscription is designed to feel luxury and flexible, not restrictive. Choose your delivery cadence (every 2 weeks or every 4 weeks recommended), then manage everything from your account:

    • Skip a shipment
    • Pause anytime
    • Swap coffees (House ↔ Exotic)
    • Change grind preference

Subscribers receive 15% off, so your ritual stays consistent—and smarter.

Where do you ship from, how fast is delivery, and do you offer free shipping?

We ship from Hollywood, Florida using UPS/USPS. Delivery times vary by location based on carrier service, but we prioritize fast fulfillment and careful packing to protect the cup quality.

Free shipping applies on orders $40+ most customers reach it with two bags or a subscription.
